How To Choose A Courier Service In Bangladesh

For an online shop, the courier is the last person your customer meets, and the one who holds your cash on delivery. This guide gives you neutral criteria and a simple test so you can choose a courier service in Bangladesh on evidence from your own parcels, not on promises.

Why The Courier Decides More Than You Think

A late or damaged parcel is the shop’s fault in the customer’s eyes. A rider who does not call, a parcel sitting at a hub, a cash-on-delivery payment that arrives to you weeks late: all of it lands on your reputation and your cash flow. Choosing a courier deserves the same care as choosing a supplier.

Bangladesh has several established options, including Pathao, Steadfast, RedX, Paperfly, eCourier and CarryBee, each with its own network and way of working. This guide does not rank them. Their services and terms change, so the right choice is the one that performs for your products, your areas and your customers.

The Criteria That Matter

Write these down and ask every courier the same questions, in writing where you can.

  • Coverage: which districts and upazilas do they deliver to, and which do they only reach through a partner? Check the places where your customers actually live, not just Dhaka.
  • Cash on delivery remittance: how often and how soon do they pay you, how do they pay (bank, mobile wallet), and how do you see what is owed? Cash flow is often the deciding factor for a small shop.
  • Return handling: what happens when the customer refuses? How many delivery attempts are made, how is the parcel returned to you, how long does it take, and is there a return charge?
  • Pickup: will a rider collect from your address on a schedule, or must you drop parcels at a hub? That changes your daily routine.
  • Tracking and updates: can you see where a parcel is, and can your customer? Clear status updates mean fewer “where is my order?” messages.
  • Parcel types and limits: weight and size limits, fragile items, bulky items, food and liquids.
  • Support: how quickly does someone answer when a parcel is stuck, and is there a named contact?
  • Loss and damage: what is the process and compensation if a parcel is lost or damaged?

How To Test Couriers With Your Own Parcels

Promises are easy. Your own numbers are not. Run a simple test before you commit.

  1. Shortlist two or three couriers

Choose those that cover your main areas and offer the pickup arrangement you want. Open a merchant account with each.

  2. Send real parcels to real areas

Split your orders for a couple of weeks between the couriers, including some outside Dhaka. A test only with parcels inside Dhaka tells you little.

  3. Record the results in a simple sheet

For each parcel note the courier, area, days to deliver, whether it was delivered or returned, any complaint from the customer, and when the cash reached you.

  4. Compare in writing

Look at delivered versus returned parcels, the typical delivery time by area, and how fast cash on delivery came back. Ask each courier about their terms in writing.

  5. Keep a main courier and a backup

Use the best performer for most parcels and a second one for areas where it is stronger or for when your main courier has trouble. Review every few months.

Questions To Ask Before You Sign Up

Use the answers to compare couriers on equal terms, and write them down.

  • Which of my customer areas do you deliver to directly?
  • When do you pay out cash on delivery, and how do I see what is pending?
  • How many attempts do you make before a parcel is returned, and who pays for the return?
  • How do I book a pickup, and what is the cut-off time?
  • Do you provide a label and tracking for every parcel?
  • Who do I call when a parcel is stuck?

Packing And Handover

A courier cannot make up for a weak parcel. Use strong packaging, seal it properly and write the customer’s name, phone number and full address clearly on the label. Put the cash-on-delivery amount where the rider can see it. A parcel that is difficult to read or open often causes delays and complaints that have nothing to do with the courier.

Keep a handover list of what you gave the rider each day, and have it signed or confirmed. When a parcel goes missing, a list with dates is the difference between a solved claim and an argument.

Warning Signs To Watch For

Watch the first month closely. These signs usually mean the arrangement is not working, and they are worth acting on early.

  • Cash on delivery arrives later and later, or nobody can tell you when
  • Customers keep telling you that nobody called before delivery
  • Parcels are returned without a clear reason, or with several attempts missing
  • Tracking shows no movement for days, and support does not answer
  • A pattern of damage that the courier does not take seriously

Making Several Couriers Easy To Manage

Using two couriers is sensible, and it is also more work if each has its own portal. Nabik.ai lets you connect your own merchant account for Pathao, Steadfast, RedX or eCourier, book each parcel from the order, print the label and follow tracking in the same place you take the order. Deliveries by your own rider can be recorded as well. Nabik.ai follows every cash-on-delivery order until the courier’s remittance, so you can see what is paid and what is still owed.

Returns are recorded against the original order, and you decide whether the item goes back into stock, so the picture of which parcels come back, and from where, builds up by itself.

Questions People Ask

Which Is The Best Courier Service In Bangladesh?

There is no single best one. The right courier depends on the areas you deliver to, your parcel types and how quickly you need cash on delivery. Test two or three with your own parcels and compare the results.

How Long Does A Courier Take To Pay Cash On Delivery?

It varies by courier and can change over time, so ask each one for their current remittance schedule in writing before you commit.

Should I Use More Than One Courier?

Many shops do. A second courier gives you a backup and lets you use whoever is stronger in each area. Keep the number small so it stays manageable.

Can I Book Couriers From Nabik.ai?

Yes. Connect your own merchant account for Pathao, Steadfast, RedX or eCourier, then book each parcel, print the label and follow tracking from the order.
